Mahwah, N.J. - Sharp
(SEC) has named Bob Scaglione chief marketing officer.

Scaglione, who previously held the title of Sharp Electronics
Marketing Co. of America senior VP and group manager, will "head up a new
business development team to promote opportunities, cross-pollination, and
cooperation across business units and categories to further strengthen the
Sharp brand in the U.S." the company said in a statement.

He will report directly to Kozo Takahashi, SEC chairman and CEO,
"and play a key role in supporting Takahashi's vision to drive innovation-based
growth at the company."

In his previous role, Scaglione led the marketing and product
development of Sharp's lineup of consumer audio and video products, including
the company's Aquos Quattron HD and 3D LCD TVs with quad-pixel technology, as
well as appliances.

Scaglione joined Sharp in 1989 as sales manager for audio/video
products. He went on to serve as marketing manager for televisions, as well as
national sales and merchandising manager for camcorders.

He also helped launch Sharp's LCD and HDTV products while serving
as sales and marketing associate VP for the digital products division.

"Bob's record of great accomplishment and experience in
audio/video, television and CE products in general makes him ideally suited to
taking a larger leadership role that is more central to the company's future
success," said Takahashi. "He has proven himself a strong leader and innovative
thinker time and again over his 21 years with Sharp. We are very fortunate to
be able to appoint him to this position."

Prior to joining Sharp he was a buyer for Abraham &
Straus.  Scaglione holds a B.S. in
marketing from the University of Scranton.
