Savant Reduces Custom Costs

Osterville, Mass. — Four new custom products from Savant Systems are designed to substantially reduce the cost of Savant installations by bundling products and by incorporating multiple technologies into a single platform, the company said.

The $3,800-suggested Rosie OSD-1000 control system, a 2U rack-mountable device, converts HDTVs into home-control interfaces. It features integrated controller, a mobile device server and OSD for use with basic installations. It supports up to eight mobile devices, such as the iPhone, as well as Savant’s remotes. All A/V switching and processing can be performed by other companies’ A/V receivers or by Savant servers.

The $3,500-suggested Rosie WCS-1000 wireless control system operates as a basic zone controller with ability to integrate with third-party A/V, lighting, security and other home systems. The 2U rack-mountable enclosure supports up to eight mobile devices.

The $500-suggested Rosie keypad bundle includes single-port keypad extender. The bundle is designed specifically for use with Savant’s multimedia, home-control and automation systems. A single CAT5 connection delivers control and power to each keypad from the extender.

Two models of Rosie in-wall touchpanel servers and extenders, the $1,500-suggested ITS-1001 and $3,000-suggested ITS-1002, extend audio, video and control signals via CAT5/5e/6 up to 300 feet to in-wall touchpanels. A single CAT5e cable connection and a single power connection run from the server/extenders to Rosie in-wall touchpanels.

The 1001 contains a single touchpanel server and a single-port touchpanel extender. The ITS-1002 features two touchpanel servers and dual-port touch panel extenders. Both are housed in a 2U rack-mountable enclosure.
