Savant Enters Multiple New Categories

Indianapolis
– Savant, the supplier of home- and commercial-control and multi-room-A/V systems,
is entering new product segments at the CEDIA Expo, including architectural
speakers, energy monitoring and a residential/commercial phone system.

The
company is also launching a modular A/V switcher/processor.

The
custom speakers, designed by Bay Audio, consist of four in-wall models, four
in-ceiling models, an in-wall subwoofer and related mounting accessories. With
the launch, the company will offer a complete multi-room-audio solution
consisting of speakers, a multi-room-audio controller/processor and a
16-channel amplifier, which was introduced earlier this year.

The
telephony system is a commercial/residential system that features a Savant PBX
(Private Branch Exchange) server and handset options that include cordless DECT  handsets. Apple’s telephony-enabled iPads,
iPhones and iPod Touches can also be used as handsets when used with Savant’s TrueControl
Apps. The system supports traditional landline service as well as VoIP service.

The
phone system integrates with Savant’s multi-room-audio system to automatically
lower whole-house music when calls come in. An optional public announcement system
also integrates with Savant’s multi-room-audio systems to enable paging,
broadcast announcements, and delivery of background music to assigned rooms,
hallways, and floors.

The
company’s SmartEnergy Monitor monitors how and when specific devices draw
power. It connects to the main electrical panel via clip-on current
transformers and sends collected data to a Savant SmartSystem using the local
area network. Once installed, users can monitor the electricity usage of
appliances, heating and lighting. Energy usage data can be viewed from home or remotely
using an iPad.

To
its line of modular A/V matrix switchers/controllers, the company is adding the
SmartMediaPro SSP-0600, which supports six card slots, providing integrators
with the flexibility to add audio/video processing modules and A/V input and
output modules. Fully loaded, the SSP-0600 delivers up to 12×12 1080p60 HD
video switching or up to 24 by 24 line-level audio switching. It supports 16
independent audio channels, eight of which deliver multichannel sound in the
main listening room. The other eight channels send audio to four stereo zones.
Its audio-processing module supports multiple surround-sound decoders as well
as matrix processing.

A video processing module enhances image
detail and quality and up-scales video to HD.
