Chatsworth, Calif. — Sanyo introduced Wednesday the PLC-WXE45 short-throw projector designed to cast up to an 80-inch image from a distance of 34 inches.
The LCD projector, which is shipping now at a $1,745 suggested retail, features Sanyo’s PJ Network Interface
for wired networking that allows remote monitoring and diagnostics.
The projector’s flexibility and ease of use are said to be suited for education applications and corporate environments where space can be an issue.
Images can be projected onto blackboards or color boards, and its small footprint allows placement in small meeting rooms or classrooms, without the need to place it in the middle of the seating areas.
Other features of the PLC-WXE45 include WXGA resolution, security features and closed captioning.
The projector can be used in a variety of applications, providing full 1,280 by 800 (16:10) resolution. It is capable of projecting high-definition images from cable/satellite or DVD sources and can also deliver a computer presentation from Macs or PCs.
Brightness is listed at 2,000 ANSI lumens, and the contrast ratio is 500:1.
Connections include Mini D-sub 15 RGB (or component on break out cable), S-Video, composite, D-Sub 15 monitor out, Mini DIN 8-pin service port and RJ45 communications port.
The projector’s power turns on as soon as the power cord is connected, and there is no need to wait for the bulb to cool down after a presentation.
Security features include the inability to operate the unit without the supplied remote control and a PIN code lock that prevents use by unauthorized personnel.
The projector is also outfitted with an anti-theft alarm that emits a loud sound whenever a sizable vibration, which could be someone trying to move the projector, is detected.
