Sanyo Bows 3LCD Front Projectors

DENVER — Sanyo (booth 3718) will unveil a pair of ultra-portable 3LCD front projectors, highlighted by a model with built-in wired and wireless networking capability.

The PLC-WXU10 ($1,495 suggested retail) and PLC-WXU30 ($3,495) 3LCD projectors each offer 1,280 by 800 widescreen high-definition resolution.

The models produce brightness levels of 2,000 and 3,700 lumens, respectively, making them suitable for home entertainment or business applications.

“We believe in this mobile age of downloadable music and movies, a lightweight go-anywhere projector is going to be a big hit with forward-looking consumers,” said Mark Holt, Sanyo presentation technologies VP and GM.

Both models include a flexible zoom lens allows for projecting in both short and long distances — from 3 feet to 25 feet, to be exact. Keystone Correction adjusts for 16 degrees up or down for setup.

The PLC-WXU30 adds a PJ Network Interface for wired and wireless networking, which Sanyo includes in many of its business projector models. Networking allows the monitoring of projector functions and operation from a long distance via a web browser. Emails can be sent automatically to report operating status.

The wireless interface is compatible with IEEE 802.11b/g standards, offering transfer speeds up to 54Mbps and providing WEP 64 /128-bit security. Both units are designed to turn on automatically when the power cord is plugged in.

The PLC-WXU10, which ships in October, has a 400:1 contrast ratio, and video connections for DVI-D, D-sub 15-pin (in and out), component (RCA x 3), Mini DIN four-pin, composite (RCA), and S-Video. A mini DIN nine-pin (RS232) control port is also offered. The PLC-WXU30, which ships in November, features a 500:1 contrast ratio, and similar input jack array.
