SanDisk Offers 2GB MP3 For $100

Berlin, Germany — SanDisk introduced a series of MP3 players that break the $100 price barrier for 2GB units during the IFA trade show, here.

The new Sansa c200 series offers a color LCD display and a microSD slot and will be available in two models, with 1GB and 2GB flash memory. The memory can be expanded with an optional SanDisk microSD card, now available in capacities from 256MB to 2GB, so that the c200 can store 2,000 songs on the 2GB model when using a 2GB micro SD.

The c200 has an FM radio and voice recorder and supports WMA, MP3 and protected WMA DRM at a suggested retail price of $79.99 for the 1GB version and $99.99 for the 2GB unit. It will be available in the United States in October.

SanDisk is credited by The NPD Group with a 9.7 percent market share in MP3 players, making it a distant No. 2 to Apple’s leading share of 75.6 percent.
