SanDisk Intros High-Capacity MiniSD Card

Los Angeles. — Courting the growing number of multimedia mobile phones, SanDisk introduced the first miniSD memory card based on the new SD High Capacity (SDHC) specification at the CTIA show, here, today.

According to SanDisk, the 4GB miniSDHC card can store more than 2,000 high-resolution images, more than 1,000 digital songs or up to 8 hours of MPEG 4 video.

The card is being sampled by mobile OEMs with a retail launch scheduled for 2007. Pricing has yet to be determined.

SDHC cards will only work in compatible devices and are not backwards compatible with existing SD card slots.
