SanDisk Announces 4GB microSD Card

Barcelona, Spain — SanDisk beefed up the capacity of its microSD card yesterday, introducing the first microSD High Capacity card in the company’s line up of mobile phone memory.

The 4GB card was announced at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, a mobile phone trade show and conference.

The cards are slated to be shipped in late 2007 and are currently being sampled by OEMs. Pricing was not announced.

SanDisk will also begin to package miniSD and full-sized SD card adapters with its microSD in what it will call a “Mobile Memory Kit.”

Typically microSD cards shipped only with full-sized SD card adapters but several flash-memory companies have begun to bundle both mini and full-sized adapters to make the microSD card more widely compatible.
