Samsung Unveils Q10 Camcorder

LAS VEGAS –

Samsung Electronics

camcorder group made a teaser announcement four days prior International CES,
unveiling one of the highlights of its 2011 product line — the HMX Q10 with 1080/60i
HD video recording, a 10x optical zoom and a backside-illuminated 5-megapixel CMOS
sensor.

The camcorder, which will hit retail shelves in February at a
$299 suggested price, will incorporate a new Smart Access user interface that
creates “application-like” icons users can drag and drop in the menu.

Other features include a new Switch Grip function with Easy
Operation via the LCD screen. The Switch Grip uses a G-magnetic sensor inside
the HMX-Q10 to recognize the angle at which the camcorder is being held and
turns the image in the LCD display to the user’s line of view for easier
recording.

Easy Operation allows controlling detailed processes, turning the
camcorder on and off and operating the playback function through the LCD
screen, so controlling the device is intuitive and fuss-free.

“The launch of the HMX-Q10 is particularly important for us as it
is one of the best demonstrations of Samsung’s continuing innovation, providing
high performing features and design in a model that makes the best camcorder
experience available to all our customers,” stated Hyunho Chung, Samsung
digital imaging business executive VP. “For example, we have developed the
world’s first Switch Grip technology so that the HMX-Q10 adapts to the consumer’s
lifestyle and setting — not the other way around. In addition, Easy Operation
via the LCD and Smart Access UI takes the confusion out of recording, so that
you can instantly record brilliant movies from the very first time you pick up
the camcorder without the need for an instruction manual.”

The HMX-Q10 also features Smart Auto scene recognition
technology, which analyzes key elements of the composition of the footage, such
as brightness, motion, color and subject, and then selects the most appropriate
settings to produce the best results possible.

Also introduced in the camcorder is Samsung Record Pause
technology, which lets users take brief pauses in filming before restarting.

The HMX-Q10 captures up to 4.9-megapixel still photos, and an
Easy Manual Mode setting enables calibrating manual features, including white
balance, exposure values, backlighting, self timer and C.Nite, through the
interface.

A new Art Film function offers such special effects as Time Lapse
and black and white.

It will be sold in pink, blue, titan and black.
