Samsung’s Four Seasons Effort Helps Torre, Esiason Charities

Ridgefield Park, N.J. - Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope will present a check to New York Yankees manager Joe Torre this Thursday evening, and Samsung announced a new sweepstakes promotion to benefit the the Boomer Esiason Foundation to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis.

The Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation is dedicated to developing educational programs to help end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives. Each time a New York Yankee hits a home run at Yankee Stadium during the regular season, the Circuit City-Samsung Home Run For Kids program the chain has pledged $1,000 to Torre’s foundation.

Prior to the first pitch of Thursday night’s game, a check made out to The Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation in the amount of $120,000 represents the 120 home runs that the Yankees hit this season.

“The Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids gave the players and the fans something extra to root for this season,” said Alan McCollough, CEO of Circuit City. “Each home run was a win for the Yankees and a win for the victims of domestic violence who need these funds to create new lives for themselves. Circuit City is proud to contribute to such a great cause.”

Fans were able to follow the Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids throughout the season on the YES Network, where home runs scored and money pledged were tallied during each game broadcast.

In addition to the Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids, Samsung, Circuit City and Joe Torre teamed up for a national retail product promotion that raised $104,000 for the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation.A check in this amount will also be presented to Joe Torre by Samsung before the game.

The Four Seasons of Hope and Sears announced a national retail and sweepstakes promotion that will help raise money this fall for the Boomer Esiason Foundation to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis. The promotion kicks off Sept. 27 and runs through Oct. 23rd.

Sears will donate $1,000 to the Boomer Esiason Foundation for every Monday night touchdown pass. The promotion has an in-store aspect as well. When customers purchase a Samsung TV or a custom gift card, Sears will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Customers will also receive zero percent financing on select Samsung products during the 2004 football season.

Created by Boomer Esiason and his wife Cheryl in 1993, after their son Gunnar was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) works to raise money to find a cure for the genetic disease. To date, more than $35 million has been raised for the cause.

The promotion also includes a sweepstakes with a grand prize of a “Trip to the Big Game.” This includes airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transfers and the opportunity to meet Boomer at “The Game.”First Prize is a 50-inch DLP (Digital Light Processing) TV. Second prize, awarded to 10 winners, is a football autographed by Boomer.

“Cystic Fibrosis affects millions of children and their families,” said Sears’ VP/general merchandising manager, Home Electronics, Tasso Koken. “Boomer and his foundation have done so much to put this awful disease in the forefront so that it can get the attention and money it needs to fund important research.Sears is very proud to be involved with a program that will benefit so many kids and their families. With Sears’ more than 870 stores, we can give the Boomer Esiason Foundation the nationwide reach it needs to raise money and awareness.”
