Samsung Honors Bennett, Legend, Raises $1.5M At Hope For Children Gala

NEW YORK — Samsung held its annual star-studded Hope for Children Gala, raising $1.5 million to benefit children’s health, education and sustainability programs, and honored Tony Bennett and John Legend, here, last Tuesday at Cipriani New York.

The event, which drew more than 700, honored Samsung’s guests and partners who have helped to improve children’s lives across the U.S.

Tony Bennett received the Samsung Hope for Children Lifetime Ambassador Award for his work with Exploring the Arts, a nonprofit organization founded by Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto.

John Legend received the Samsung Hope for Children Ambassador Award for his work with the Show Me Campaign.

Additional celebrity partners at the gala included Chelsea Clinton, Drew Brees, Jimmie Johnson, Boomer Esiason, Robin Thicke, Rob Thomas, Estelle and host Sherri Shepherd.

The gala featured special performances by Matchbox Twenty, Robin Thicke and Estelle.

Samsung Hope for Children, the company’s global corporate socialresponsibility platform, brings together the company; its retail partners, which included executives from h.h.gregg, P.C. Richard & Son, Sears, and distributors Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics and Almo, among others; and a network of charitable organizations associated with public figures.

Over the course of its 12-year history, Samsung Hope for Children has raised more than $30 million through the gala, which has helped more than 500 schools, hospitals and communitybased foundations throughout the U.S.
