Samsung Expands Android Selection To 2

Samsung announced its second Android-based smartphone, this one intended for the Sprint network.

Samsung’s Moment with touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard goes on sale Nov.1 through Sprint’s direct and indirect channels at $179 after $50 instant savings and a $100 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement. Pre-registration for the phone is underway at www.sprint.com/moment.

Samsung’s other announced Android phone, the Behold II, is a touchscreen-only phone that goes on sale sometime later this year on the T-Mobile network at a price not yet disclosed.

The Sprint phone features EV-DO Rev. A data speeds, Sprint’s first 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and an 800MHz processor, making it one of the fastest wireless phones available, Samsung said. Other features include optical joystick, Wi-Fi capability, integrated GPS navigation, accelerometer, 3.2-megapixel camera/camcorder with flash and auto focus, stereo Bluetooth 2.0, Amazon over-the-air MP3-downloading application, included 2GB MicroSD card, support for 32GB MicroSD cards, Sprint TV live and on-demand programming, and easy access to social-networking sites.
