Samsung Debuts Wi-Fi Digicam, Pocket Camcorder

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung
Electronics took the wraps off a FullHD pocket camcorder and a Wi-Fi-enabled
point-and-shoot digital camera.

The HMX-E10 features a
270-degree swiveling lens and, in pocket-camcorder fashion, a built-in USB port
function that also charges its battery. An onscreen “upload” button is designed
to link directly to such content-sharing sites as YouTube.

Other specs include a 1/3.2-inch
CMOS sensor, 1,920 by 1,080 FullHD video (30p/H.264) capture, 8-megapixel still
image capture and a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD. According to Samsung, the LCD divides
into two sections when recording video, with the top section showing a live
view and the bottom showing a series of touchscreen controls.

The HMX-E10 comes in
ivory and black and will be available in September for $199.

In the point-and-shoot
side of things, Samsung introduced the ST80, a 14.2-megapixel Wi-Fi-enabled
camera that boasts the company’s AllShare connectivity.

Specs include a 3x
optical zoom, 3-inch touchscreen, and 720p HD video recording at 30 fps in the
H.264 format. The Wi-Fi connectivity enables users to email images to addresses
they’ve stored in the camera’s address book, as well as upload them to
social-networking sites.

The ST80 also comes with
an account with mobile hot spot provider Boingo, Samsung said, which reportedly
has more than 120,000 Wi-Fi hot spots across the world.
