Samsung Camera Gets Boingo Wi-Fi

Los Angeles — Boingo Wireless said Wednesday Samsung will
preload its software into new Wi-Fi enabled digital cameras, allowing customers
to connect to 125,000 Boingo Wi-Fi hot spots worldwide to share and send photos
and videos.

Initially,

Boingo

software will be pre-installed on the Samsung ST5500/CL80 point-and-shoot digital
camera. Purchasers will receive three months of complimentary Boingo Wi-Fi
access out of the box.

After the promotion period, customers will have the option to
subscribe to Boingo Mobile, a $7.95 monthly plan for unlimited Wi-Fi access to
125,000 locations worldwide.

Additional Boingo-enabled models will be announced as they become
available, Boingo said.

The ST5500/CL80 will permit users to instantly share images and
videos on social networks, such as Facebook and YouTube, directly from the
camera. Users can connect to a Boingo hot spot by tapping the onscreen Boingo
button.

“Samsung understands that the ability to share photos and videos
online is an essential aspect of the photography experience,” said Choonghyun
Hwang, Samsung Electronics VP. “The integration of Boingo’s intuitive software
with the Samsung ST5500/CL80 enables our users to upload their captured moments
via a high-speed connection anywhere in the world, without being tethered to a
PC.”

The ST5500/CL80 is a compact point-and-shoot camera with 14.2
megapixel image resolution, HD video recording, touch-screen keypad, and Wi-Fi
and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

U.S. availability for the camera will be announced in the near
future, Boingo said.
