Samsung Adds 10-Megapixel Camera to S-Series

Secaucus, N.J. — Samsung announced two new digital cameras today, building out its S-series with the addition of a 7- and 10-megapixel model.

The 7-megapixel S700 and 10-megapixel S1000 both offer a 2.4-inch LCD screen and 3x optical zoom for both stills and video recording. They offer seven scene modes, in-camera video and photo editing, and a dedicated control for shooting with special effects — including color models, black and white, sepia and photo frame, among others.

The models also feature an automatic macro mode for subjects up to 5cm, 16MB of internal memory, voice recording and voice memo, and a one-touch playback feature for instantly playing back images on the camera even if the power is off.

The S1000 supports 30 fps MPEG-4 video recording at VGA resolution. The camera offers video stabilization to reduce the effect of camera shake.

Both cameras ship next month. The S1000 will retail for a suggested $349.99 while the S700 will retail for a suggested $249.99.
