Sam's Club Teases Black Friday Sale

11/12/2010 12:53:49 PM Eastern

Bentonville, Ark. - In back-to-back holiday actions, Sam's Club
has tipped its hand on some of its Black Friday CE specials, while sister site
Walmart.com is offering free holiday shipping on its entire CE assortment.

Day-after-Thanksgiving sales at Wal-Mart's warehouse club division
will include a 42-inch Hitachi 1080p LCD TV for $498, a Samsung Fascinate smartphone
for less than $1 (with a two-year contract), a Sony Blu-ray Disc player for
$94.88, a Hewlett-Packard  10.1-inch
netbook for $228 and a Nintendo Wii Super Mario Bros. bundle for $299.

The chain said its Black Friday promotion will extend to dozens
of products across all categories.

The members-only sale will run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on
Friday, Nov. 26. Sam's Club will offer a "sneak peek" at its Black Friday fare
during a "Taste of Sam's Club" food-sampling event Nov. 19-21, and plans to serve
early-bird shoppers a complimentary Black Friday breakfast of hot egg sandwiches,
fruit, yogurt and coffee.

Sam's Club's Black Friday preview follows a free-shipping offer from
Walmart.com on some 60,000 items, including all CE products (except iPods and
iPads) and thousands of video games.

The offer, running now through Dec. 20, requires no minimum
purchase or subscriptions fees, and is seen as a swipe at competitors like
Amazon.com and Target.com whose free shipping programs variously do.

In making the announcement, Walmart.com emphasized the program's
free CE shipping component by citing the eligibility of such products as:

  • a Philips DVD player ($39);

  •  a Sanyo 12-megapixel digital camera with 3x
    optical zoom ($52);

  • Sony's Handycam 4GB flash-memory camcorder with
    60x optical zoom ($249);

  • HP's Garden Dreams 14.5-inch Pavilion special-edition
    laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium ($598); and

  • a 46-inch Sony Bravia 1080p, 120Hz LCD TV ($898).

Eligible items are shipped for free via standard shipping and
delivered to customers' doors within three to five business days after the
order is processed, the company said. Return shipping is also free, although
purchases can also be brought to a local Walmart store.
