R'Shack Names New Chief Merchant

4/06/2010 04:47:56 PM Eastern

Fort
Worth, Texas - RadioShack has tapped
former Best Buy executive Scott Young as its chief merchandising officer,
filling a key role that had been vacant since September.

He succeeds Peter
Whitsett, who left the chain last fall to pursue other interests.

In his new role,
which also carries an executive VP title, Young will be responsible for developing
and implementing RadioShack's merchandising, product development and allocation
functions to support the company's strategic focus on mobility, innovation,
connectivity and personal service.

Young joins
RadioShack from LodgeNet Interactive, where he had been divisional president
and chief marketing officer for the past four years. Before that he spent seven
years at Best Buy, where he held numerous merchandising positions, including VP.
Prior to Best Buy, he was strategic marketing VP at BMG
Entertainment North America, merchandising managing director for Ticketmaster,
and marketing director at Capitol Records.

"We are delighted
to welcome Scott to The Shack," said RadioShack chairman/CEO Julian Day. "Over
the last year our company has successfully launched our new brand platform and
has become a leader in meeting customers' needs for high-demand mobile
technology and connectivity products and services.

"As we pursue growth
opportunities ahead, we are confident Scott will play a critical role in our
plans to enhance the product assortment and the shopping experience at The
Shack."

Whitsett, Young's
predecessor, was brought aboard more than two years ago by Day from Sears Holdings.
He had risen through the ranks at Kmart, where Day was president and later CEO
prior to its merger with Sears.
