Santa Clara, Calif. –
said Tuesday that it has reached a multiyear licensing agreement with Sharp
Electronics for Rovi guidance solutions including Rovi TotalGuide, G-Guide and its
interactive program guide (IPG) patent portfolio.

portfolio,” said Thomas Carson, Rovi’s sales and marketing executive VP.
“Our agreement with Sharp demonstrates the advanced capabilities
that our technologies and intellectual property can provide to leading CE
manufacturers in the digital entertainment ecosystem.”
The guidance package includes TotalGuide, which is Rovi’s advanced
media guide that unifies search, discovery and recommendations through a single
interface offering access to content from the Internet and from broadcast
services. Rovi G-Guide is Rovi’s electronic programming guide for Japan,
covering all terrestrial and satellite data broadcasting.
