Ritz Adds Scrapbooking E-Commerce Site

Irvine, Calif. — Ritz Interactive, the e-commerce network that includes RitzCamera.com, WolfCamera.com, BoatersWorld.com and other e-commerce sites, launched Wednesday www.ScrapbookingAlley.com, a site that expands on the company’s core photography business.

The site will offer more than 11,000 products for sale from leading scrapbook manufacturers, including We R Memory Keepers, Spellbinders, Ellison/Sissix, Provo Craft, Making Memories and others.

It will also provide products used for various craft categories such as glassmaking, jewelry, clay and ceramics, wood, sewing and needlework .

ScrapbookingAlley will also present visitors with project ideas from Ranger and Kaisercraft, the ability to shop products by theme, a quote and sayings library and other community features.

To promote the launch, ScrapbookingAlley will give customers 20 percent off all products; free shipping on all orders, regardless of order amount; and no sales tax.

Fred H. Lerner, Ritz Interactive president and CEO, said, “Scrapbookers are very active photo customers. They make the most of their photos, taking and printing many more pictures than the average household. Scrapbookers represent a lucrative segment of the photo market.”

According to PMA market research, 21 percent of U.S. households have completed a scrapbook project, and another 9 percent have started but not completed a project. In 2005, approximately 12 percent of households completed a scrapbook project.

Scrapbooking appears to benefit heavily from word of mouth or, more accurately, from viewing of others’ projects. According to the survey results, 65 percent of those who have started a scrapbook project developed their interest due to a friend or family member.
