Ricoh Adds GPS to DigiCam

San Bernardino, Calif. — Ricoh announced today wider availability for its Pro G3 digital camera that offers both wireless LAN connectivity and the ability to embed GPS location data in each image.

The 3.3-megapixel Pro G3 uses a WAAS-enabled GPS card in the CompactFlash form factor to embed GPS information in an image file. It can also receive GPS coordinates from external devices via Bluetooth.

It is geared primarily at business and government applications, where it had been trialing for several months, but is now available through authorized Ricoh resellers.

The camera features a 3x optical zoom lens compatible with accessory lenses, video recording with sound, and built-in connectivity to IP networks through wired or wireless LAN.
