RetailVision Set For Spring Fling In Beverly Hills

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF. -The spring 2001 edition of RetailVision, which begins today at the Century Plaza Hotel here, features two first-time events: distributors are headlining a RetailVision University session, and retailers and vendors are sharing power lunches over a three-day span, rather than one.

Attracted by emerging PC-related technologies and discussions concerning new products, distribution and service, more than 225 retailers and 275 vendors are being treated to a variety of business and entertainment events, which continue through Thursday, April 5. Event partners are Ingram Micro, Levin Consulting and IM Logistics, as well as media partner TWICE.

The GartnerGroup managed RetailVision, which connects decision-makers at leading retailers with technology vendors whose products and services drive the consumer channel, enables vendors to establish valuable partnerships with store execs. Retailers, in turn, are exposed to boardroom and networking opportunities specifically designed to allow them to influence the direction of technology products and channel services.

Highlighting RetailVision are three retailer presentations at RetailVision University, called PowerViews. The first is scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, April 3, and includes OfficeMax VP Dirk Kettlewell, RadioShack VP/divisional merchandise manager Dick Donnelly and Micro Center president Tom Fitz.

Distributors headlining a PowerViews session at RetailVision University on Wednesday, April 4, 9 a.m.-noon, include D & H Distribution president Gary Brothers, IM Logistics VP Bryan Moynahan and an executive from Ingram Micro.

ChannelViews participants at RetailVision University, Thursday, April 5, 9 a.m.-noon, include Levin Consulting VP/general manager Michael Flink, who will talk on “Maximizing the Value of MDF/Co-op Dollars”; Insider Marketing president Ellen Miller, who will speak about “Five Ways to Guarantee a Successful Product Launch at Retail”; and Marty Shapiro, Marty Shapiro Consulting, who will ask the audience “Are You Leaving Money on the Table?”

A Channel Announcement is scheduled by Roxio for Wednesday, April 4.

The Best of RetailVision Awards will be presented at a dinner, Wednesday, April 4, at 6:45 p.m. This will be followed by a RetailVision Exclusive Concert, at 8:30 p.m., which will feature Grammy Award nominee John Hiatt.
