RadioShack’s CFO Resigns

Fort Worth, Texas — David Barnes has stepped down as RadioShack’s executive VP and chief financial officer.

His resignation follows last week’s appointment of Julian Day as the CE chain’s chairman and CEO.

Barnes will remain with RadioShack during a transition period before taking an executive VP position with Western Union. All finance functions will report to Day until a replacement is named.

“This is a terrific opportunity for David,” Day said in a statement. “We appreciate the contributions David has made while at RadioShack. We expect a smooth and orderly transition of the finance functions.”

Barnes joined RadioShack as chief financial officer in April 2005, succeeding Michael Newman who resigned in July 2004.

The retailer will report its second-quarter earnings results on Friday.
