Fort Worth, Texas - Verizon Wireless products and services
have formally returned to RadioShack today following a five-year absence.
The renewed partnership, announced in July, adds the No. 1
wireless carrier to a RadioShack roster that includes AT&T and Sprint. The
chain ended its two-year relationship with T-Mobile yesterday.
Adding Verizon to its wireless offering is seen as critical
to RadioShack's success in the highly competitive mobile market, where the
4,400-store CE chain competes with discounters, e-tailers, carrier-owned stores
and a burgeoning Best Buy Mobile business.
promoting the new addition with $100-off offers on most Verizon Wireless
smartphones, including 4G LTE devices such as the Droid Bionic by Motorla, the
Droid Charge by Samsung, the Revolution by LG and the ThunderBolt by HTC.
"The arrival of Verizon Wireless is a definitive enhancement
of our multi-carrier retailing proposition," said RadioShack president/CEO Jim

The retailer will also offer a $20 RadioShack gift card with
the purchase of a prepaid Verizon Wireless phone, and 25 percent off all cases and screen
protectors matching Verizon Wireless devices.
