Fort Worth, Texas — RadioShack has named Peter Whitsett executive VP/general merchandise manager, reporting to CEO Julian Day.
Whitsett is a former senior VP at Sears Holdings, where he was responsible for the company’s general merchandising businesses. He rose through the ranks at Kmart, where Day was president and later CEO.
In his new post, Whitsett will lead RadioShack’s merchandising, product development and allocation functions and will be responsible for the development and implementation of all merchandising strategies.
Whitsett fills a role last held by Wes Lowzinski, who was named senior VP/general merchandise manager last year. Lowzinski in turn succeeded Jim Hamilton, whose merchandising and marketing executive VP position was eliminated.
