Public Radio Going Digital

Washington — The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has awarded grants to 76 more radio stations to pay for their conversion to digital broadcasting. All are FM stations. The corporation will award additional grants in May.

To date, grants have been awarded to 118 of 784 public radio stations.

More than $5 million in grants was awarded as part of almost $150 million that Congress provided in the past four years to convert public TV and radio stations to digital. The corporation has received another $50 million for that purpose for fiscal 2004.
