Proficient Audio is coming to CEDIA Expo with new products in multiple categories, including it first two A/V receivers (AVRs), an Mport iPod dock for the AVRs, and its first wireless amplifier system for powering surround speakers or a second-room speaker pair.
Also new: three amps and two in-ceiling speakers.
The AVRs will join a two-channel stereo receiver and a six-zone 12-channel stereo receiver. The first AVR, shipping in September, is the $1,250-suggested M80 with DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD decoding, four HDMI inputs, Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processing, 7×130-watt high-current Class AB amplifier, line outputs to add on larger amps and an optional iPod dock.
The planned M60 AVR, rated at 7×80 watts, is due in the first quarter with DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD decoding, HDMI 1.3 repeater capability and high-current amplification.
The $200-suggested MRD iPod dock, due in the fourth quarter, lets users browse and select album/artist/song stored on the iPod using a Proficient AVR’s remote control. It also charges the iPod and connects via USB to a PC to sync with iTunes.
The two planned amps are the M2 high-current amp, rated at 2×125 watts, and the M8 high-current amp, rated at 8×35 watts. Additional details were unavailable.
The AirFlex wireless system features wireless transmitter and amplifier/receiver rated at 2×50 watts for powering connected speakers. The receiver’s line-level output send audio to a connected powered sub. Pricing and ship date weren’t available.
For fourth-quarter delivery, Proficient will introduce the C655 in-ceiling LCR cinema speaker at a suggested $175. It features silk-dome tweeter and a graphite woofer, which replaces the polypropylene woofer of its predecessor without a change in dealer cost.
The $250-suggested C625 in-ceiling distributed-audio speaker, also due in the fourth quarter, features a silk-dome tweeter and graphite woofer, which replaces its predecessor’s polypropylene woofer at no change in dealer cost.
