Polaroid Intros Pink Digicams

Minneapolis — The Petters Group said today that its Polaroid division would ship a pair of pink digital cameras to select dealers in October to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The company also said it would donate $150,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Target will sell the Polaroid i631, a 6-megapixel model with a 3x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD screen and interchangeable hand grips. Pricing was not announced.

Wal-Mart will offer the i735. Pricing and specifications were not announced. Two additional models, t830p and i534p, will ship later in the fall with promotional material for the BCRF included on the packaging.

It is the second year in a row that Polaroid has offered special-edition digital cameras in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company said.

In addition to the products, Polaroid will also launch a new Web site called Picture a World Without Breast Cancer to showcase individual breast cancer experiences. Through Dec. 31, consumers can submit photos and stories and once a week, Polaroid will highlight one on the site and send the author a pink digital camera. The images collected through the site will be transformed into a collage banner and unveiled in New York City on Feb. 14, 2008.
