Plustek Debuts Portable Scanners

Cerritos, Calif. –
Plustek Technology has begun shipping two portable scanners.

The MobileOffice
S400 and MobileOffice S420 scanners convert paper documents, expense reports
and business cards to searchable PDF with the touch of a button and are ideal
for business travelers, home users or anywhere a laptop computer is used, the
company said.

The second-generation
mobile scanners are powered by USB and do not require external power. With the
touch of a button the user can scan to a PC, laptop or netbook at a scanning
speeds of up to 12 ppm for the MobileOffice S420 (3 ppm for the MobileOffice
S400).

The MobileOffice
S400 and MobileOffice S420 also feature advanced image processing that allows
the user to scan mixed sized documents with no adjustments. Images are
automatically straightened, rotated and adjusted for exposure with no manual
intervention, the company said.

The result is more
accurate optical character recognition and fewer pages that need to be
rescanned. The included software productivity suite allows the user to easily
create and manage searchable PDF’s. Industry standard TWAIN drivers combined
with TIF, JPG, PDF and Microsoft Office file formats ensure compatibility with
thousands of scanning and imaging programs. The MobileOffice S420 features a
faster 12 ppm scan speed, embossed card scanning and an office docking station.
It may be shared between two PCs, and is Energy Star compliant.

The MobileOffice
S400 has a suggested retail of $159 and is available now. The MobileOffice S420
has a suggested retail of $199 and will be available in August.

All Plustek
scanners can be purchased from authorized resellers, DMRs, VARs and
distributors, including NewWave Technologies, Ingram Micro and D&H.
