Santa Cruz, Calif. — Plantronics took the wraps off a Bluetooth headset with in-vehicle charging that’s meant for commercial drivers.
The Blacktop 500 is an in-vehicle version of the company’s Blackwire 710 headset. Its in-vehicle charging system is designed for unlimited talk time.
The headset also has road- and engine-noise cancellation, an adjustable headband and multi-device connectivity.
A full charge delivers up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 10 days of standby time. iOS devices can make use of a headset battery meter.
The Blacktop 500’s Smart Sensor technology detects when the headset is being worn and automatically routes the audio from the mobile phone to the headset. The device also has a USB connection for at-home use.
It’s currently available for a $129 suggested retail.
