Clearwater, Fla. – Phoenix Gold
will expand its autosound selection at International CES with the first models
in its Elite series of high-end car audio amplifiers, subwoofers and speakers.
The new series is targeted to
audiophiles and will join the entry-level R series and the competition-oriented
Ti series.
The company will also expand its
SD series of miniature Class D amps at the show.
In the Elite series, the initial
products on display consist of three amplifiers, a subwoofer, and a set of
component speakers. The Elite.1, Elite.2 and Elite.4 amps are among the most
powerful ever made by the company, with a mono amp rated at 3,200 watts into 1
ohm and 2,400 watts into 2 ohms. Likewise, the 12d subwoofer is rated at 1,600 watts
RMS and 3,200 watts peak. Pricing wasn’t announced, but shipments are
tentatively slated for March.
The amps feature Burr Brown
op-amps, usually seen in home audio components, to deliver ultra-low distortion
and noise and high speed, thus delivering “maximum musical resolution,” the
company said. They come with included remote bass knob.
The three amps include the Elite.1 monoblock amplifier rated at 2,400
watts into 2 ohms and 3,200 watts into 1 ohm. It features low-pass range
of 30Hz to 300Hz with a slope of 24dB/octave, subsonic filter with 24dB/octave
slope, and 0 to +18dB bass boost.
The Elite.2 Class-A/B two-channel amp is rated at 2×450 watts into 1 ohm,
2×375 into 2 ohms, and 4×250 watts into 4 ohms. It comes with low- and
high-pass filters with 16dB/octave slope and ranges of 40Hz to 4kHz and 20Hz to
4kHz, respectively. The Elite.4
Class-A/B four-channel amplifier is rated at 4×300 watts into 1 ohm,
4×225 watts into 2 ohms, and 4×150 watts into 4 ohms with low- and high-pass
filters like the Elite.2.
The Elite.12d subwoofer features
dual 4-ohm design and 3-inch long-throw voice coil to handle 1,600-watts
RMS/3200-watts peak. It’s optimized for sealed or vented enclosures.
The Elite.65cs component speaker
includes a 25mm silk-dome tweeter and 24dB/octave external crossovers. The
tweeter housing is machined from a single block of aluminum and threaded with
an aluminum retaining nut for solid, easy installation, the company said. The
aluminum also acts as a heat sink for the neodymium motor structure. Power
handling is rated at 150watts RMS and 300 watts peak with a frequency response
of 50Hz to 20kHz.
In addition to launching the
Elite series, Phoenix Gold plans to add four models to its SD series of
miniature Class D amps to bring the range to seven. The company will also show
a new version of its iSeries OEM integration amp/sub combo kit.
The SD additions include two mono amps, one of which is rated
at 900 watts into 2 ohms and 1,300 watts into 1ohm. The other mono amp is rated
at 200 watts into 2 ohms and 300 watts into 1 ohm.
The other two amps include a
5-channel model rated at 4×80 watts into 4 ohms plus 1×500 watts into 4 ohms.
Into 2 ohms, it delivers 4×125 watts plus 1×800 watts. A two-channel amp is
rated at 2×75 watts into 4 ohms and 2×100 watts into 2 ohms. Price and ship
dates were unavailable.
The company’s current
OEM-integration amp/sub kit, designed for 2010/2011 Camaro, replaces the
factory amp, plugs into the factory wiring harness, and retains all factory
electronics features, including factory steering-wheel controls, head unit
functionality, Bluetooth, OnStar and chime functions. Details on the new
version weren’t available.
