P.C. Richard Opening 5th Connecticut Store

8/09/2010 04:40:20 PM Eastern

Manchester, Conn.
- P.C. Richard & Son will open its fifth Connecticut store on Wednesday and
is planning two more locations in the Nutmeg State.

The Long
Island-based CE and majap chain will soft-open a former Circuit City storefront
here this week, followed by a grand opening on Aug. 19, according to a report
in the Journal Inquirer, a local newspaper.

The family-held
business opened its first Connecticut location last year in Norwalk, and has
since added stores in Milford, North Haven and Danbury.

A sixth store will
open in Enfield -- hometown of former New England chain Bernie's -- this
November, and the company is also planning a seventh Connecticut store in
Newington.

The Manchester and
Enfield stores will be staffed by former Circuit City and Bernie's employees, the
newspaper reported.

 P.C. Richard president Gregg Richard
previously told TWICE that the chain was also scouting locations for a regional
distribution center, and could eventually extend its New England footprint to Rhode
Island and Massachusetts.

Further south, the
100-year-old dealer opened its first Philadelphia store in May, one of two
planned locations there, and is also eyeing the Delaware market, Richard had said.
