Panasonic Reprices Select PDPs

Panasonic announced just prior to CEDIA Expo new pricing on select PX50, PX500 and ONYX-family plasma TV sets.

At the 2005 CEDIA Expo, Panasonic will showcase five HD plasma panels with new pricing, including the TH-42PX500 and TH-50PX500, and from the ONYX Series: the 65W-inch TH-65XVS30U, the 50W-inch TH-50XVS30U and the 42W-inch TH-42-XVS30U.

All models feature Panasonic’s “Digital Access Pack” (DAP), which includes NTSC, ATSC1 and QAM tuners, a built-in CableCARD slot, HDMI-HDCP input, and a Photo Viewer with SD Memory Card and PCMCIA Card slots.

Pricing on the entry 42W-inch EDTV plasma set, model PD-42PD50 was reduced $500 to a $1,999 suggested retail.

In the PX50 Series the 37W-inch PD-37PX50 was reduced $500, to a $2,499.95 suggested retail; the 42W-inch PD-42PX50 was reduced $500, to $2,999.95; and the 50W-inch PD-50PX50 was reduced $1,000, to a $3,999.95 suggested retail. All are high-definition models.

In the step-up PX500 Series, the 50W-inch TH-50PX500U now carries a $4,499.95 suggested retail price, and the 42W-inch TH-42PX500U is now $3,499.95.

In the custom-installation-focused ONYX Series, the 65W-inch TH-65XVS30U was reduced $1,000, to an $18,999.95 suggested retail; the 50W-inch TH-50XVS30U was reduced $1,000 to a $7,999.95 suggested retail; and the 42W-inch TH-42XVS30U is now $5,499.95. ONYX models add tuning and CableCARD slots through an outboard media box.
