Panasonic Offers HD Image Gallery

Secaucus, N.J. — Panasonic’s Panasonic Direct unit said it is offering consumers an online gallery of high-definition images they can use to display on their Panasonic HD plasma sets.

Called the Panasonic HD Image Gallery, the service offers a library of downloadable HD pictures from HD image producer GalleryPlayer as part of “an evolving relationship” between two companies.

Panasonic said it will help consumers turn their plasma screens into “design statements” by displaying “great works of art” when not in use.

The image gallery ranges from work by Monet, DaVinci and Andy Warhol to photographs from National Geographic, Time Life and 30 other leading content partners.

The Panasonic HD Image Gallery incorporates “Smart Display” technology, which adjusts images to fit the user's display, regardless of aspect ratio and resolution.

The effort is a continuation of Panasonic’s Masterpiece plasma series, which produced custom picture frames that could be mounted around select Panasonic plasma sets.

The site, which can be found at www.panasonic.galleryplayer.com, offers images at prices starting at 99 cents, with special collection options available for multiple pictures.
