Olympus Names First American CEO

Center Valley, Pa. — F. Mark Gumz has been named CEO of the Olympus Corporation of the Americas, the first time an American has been tapped for the post of CEO in any Olympus company.

Since 2000, Gumz had been serving as the company’s president/COO. He will retain those titles in addition to his chief executive duties.

Olympus also said that its holding company, which provides shared services for its companies in the Americas, will be renamed from Olympus USA Inc. to the Olympus Corp. of the Americas.

Gumz first served as a VP at Olympus from 1977 to 1983 after which time he left the company to pursue global consulting. He returned to Olympus to serve as president in 2000.
