Olympus Broadens d-SLR Accessories

Orlando, Fla. — Olympus bolstered its digital SLR offering with the addition of new lenses and new underwater housings for its two E-System d-SLRs.

The company will add three new lenses to its Zuiko series of optics designed on the 4/3 standard for an “all digital” SLR design. The lenses work with the company’s E-1 and recently introduced Evolt E-300.

The Zuiko Digital ED 14-35mm f2.0, ED 35-100mm f2.0 and ED 90-250mm f2.8 will feature fixed apertures through the entire zoom range and will ship in the fourth quarter. Pricing has not been determined.

For Evolt users, Olympus also introduced the new PT-E01 Underwater Housing, in addition to housings for several of its accessory lenses and the FL-36 Flash. When encased, the Evolt can descend to a depth of 180 feet underwater.

The housings for three Zuiko lenses are built of durable die-cast aluminum and quality glass to go the distance. Olympus will offer the PPO-E01 for its 14-45mm lens, the PPO-E02 for the 11-22mm or 14-54mm lens, and the PPO-E03 for the 50mm macro lens.

The external FL-36 flash can be placed inside the PFL-01 housing. It is supported by the PTBK-E01 flash bracket.
