Olympus Bows Pocket Video Cam

Olympus

has jumped into the pocket video cam category through the introduction Tuesday
of its LS-20M Linear PCM recorder.

The video camera/recorder, which ships in June at a $299 suggested
retail, records 1080p HD video, 24 bit/96 kHz Linear PCM stereo sound and
includes a 2-inch LCD screen and a smaller 1.46-inch data screen that shows the
time, audio levels and remaining battery life.

Other features include a 4x digital zoom auto-focus lens, and a
number of Magic Movie settings including Rock Magic Movie (to make videos
resembling classic rock music videos), Sketch (to create a pencil drawing
effect from videos), Pinhole (to produce darkened vignetting effect) and Pop
(for bright, exaggerated colors resembling pop art).

Also included is an auto voice-activation feature to
automatically start recording when someone speaks.

The Olympus LS-20M is offered in a black and silver body, weighs 5.4
ounces and includes a 2GB memory card.

“The potential number of uses for the Olympus LS-20M Linear PCM
recorder are limitless,” said Amy Leslie, Olympus Imaging America product
manager. “Anyone looking to capture and upload music performances, sporting
events, weddings, meetings or just create their own fun videos, can use the
LS-20M for their personal and professional audio and video needs.”
