Olympus Adds Digicam Trio

Center Valley, Pa. –

Olympus

unveiled Tuesday three compact point-and-shoot cameras covering a wide swath of
feature sets at value-targeted price points.

The camera models include the VG-100 ($90 suggested retail),
VR-320 ($200) and SZ-10 ($250). The VG-100 ships this month, while the latter
two will arrive at retail in March.

The highlight of the trio is the Olympus SZ-10, featuring 14-megapixel
resolution, an 18x (28-504mm equivalent) optical zoom lens, and a 3-inch
460K-dot LCD. The SZ-10 will also capture HD video in 720p resolution.

The camera also offers a compact size for a so-called super-zoom camera,
at a measurement of 1.5 inches thick.

The camera includes a range of Magic Art Filters for stills and
videos, including Pop Art, which saturates colors for a 60’s pop art feel; Pin
Hole, which reduces peripheral brightness for a pin hole effect; Fish-Eye; Soft
Focus; Drawing, which turns images into a sketch outline; Watercolor, which
makes images take on a watercolor paintings look; Sparkle, adds twinkling
highlights to images; and Punk, which produces two-tone images.

The camera also features a 3D mode that allows capturing 3D
images using a pan and sweep shooting technique. The 3D data is processed
in-camera into an MPO file, standard 3D format for display on 3D televisions.

The SZ-10 also offers Eye-Fi SD card (sold separately) wireless
connectivity compatibility.

The VR-320 has 14-megapixel resolution, a 3-inch LCD and will
capture 720p HD video, but the optical-zoom range steps down to a 12.5x focal
range.

It also has the same assortment of Magic Art Filters as the SZ-10
and adds dual image stabilization (mechanical sensor-shift and digital), face
detection (up to eight faces) for easier group shots, AF Tracking, Intelligent
Auto and an in-camera help guide.

The Olympus VG-110 is a basic 12-megapixel model with a 4x
optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD and VGA-quality video capture.
