NuVision Debuts Edge-Lit LED LCDs

9/10/2009 02:00:00 AM Eastern

NuVision U.S. will use CEDIA Expo to present its Lucidium FX5LS 1080p LCD TV series featuring edge-mounted LED panel lighting to achieve a super-slim cabinet depth, and it will unveil its first video projector assortment.

NuVision said the LED technology in the new FX5LS will enable less power usage, while delivering truer colors and deeper blacks.

In addition, a parallel input layout on the panels will enable smoother installation options for home integrators.

The FX5LS series, which is on display here this week, includes the 40-inch, 46-inch and 55-inch screen sizes.

All of the models include NuVision's own FX5 and FFM technologies. The FX5 system is said to eliminate the need for the 3:2 pull-down algorithm found in 60Hz displays, by recreating each frame five times using the 120Hz and high refresh rate of the panels.

The FFM system is said to create clear, flicker-free fast sports and motion sequences by comparing two consecutive frames and generating additional interpolated frames.

All Lucidium FX5LS models come with two-year manufacturer's warranties.

Meanwhile, NuVision will also unveil a limited-edition pink-framed 32-inch Lucidium FX5 series LCD set. The company said a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the pink LCD will be donated to breast cancer research.

As with all FX5 sets, the pink model uses FFM technology and has a two-year warranty.
