Nikon Introduces D3200 DSLR

Melville, N.Y. – Nikon introduced Thursday its D3200 DSLR
featuring a 24.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor and the ability to shoot
up to 1080p HD video.

The camera, which will carry a $700 suggested retail price
including an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens when it hits shelves in late April, is
positioned for advanced hobbyists looking to step up from point-&-shoots,
offers an ISO sensitivity range of 100-6,400 (expandable to 12,800) and will
capture still images at up to 4 fps.

Full HD videos are captured in either 24p or 30p frame rates with
fulltime AF, manual exposure control and stereo sound via a microphone input
jack.

The D3200 includes Nikon’s EXPEED 3 image processing engine and
an 11-point AF system works with Nikon’s Scene Recognition System and will be
is compatible with the Nikon WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter (available in late
May at a $60 suggested retail). The latter allows image sharing with and remote
operation using Android devices. Compatibility with iOS-based devices is
planned for the near future.

An Intuitive Guide Mode is included to help users learn and use key
camera functions and settings.

 Nikon also introduced the
AF-S Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G prime lens (shipping in May at a $700 suggested retail)
capable of shooting both stills and HD video in low-light situations. The lens
was designed for use with Nikon full frame FX-format DSLRs (42mm focal length
equivalent when mounted on DX-format D-SLRs).
