Daytona Beach, Fla. –
New exhibitors appeared at this year’s Spring Break Nationals, a car show and
soundoff event held here earlier this month, including Got 2 B Wireless, Sonic Soundlabs,
Gemsen America, Linear Power, Blues Car Audio and B-52.
“Everyone I spoke with,
in and outside the industry, were very upbeat leading up to the show,” said Spring
Break Nationals promoter Paul Papadeas, “and upon departure from the event were
most satisfied with the turnout.”
MERA hosted seminars
offering technical and sales training from Scosche, Autopage, JL Audio, Powerbass,
Metra Electronics and Aamp of America. The exhibit show floor remained open on
Monday for a dealers’ show, a first for the Spring Break Nationals.
“Truthfully, Monday’s dealer
show floor exposure was too weak to justify,” said Papadeas.
Florida distributors
LESCO and Audio America reported increased sales and dealer attendance in their
breakout rooms adjacent to the show floor, according to a release put out by
IASCA.
Other events during the
event included drag racing competitions from International Auto Sound Challenge
Association (IASCA), Mobile Electronics Competition Association. (MECA) and dB Drag
Racing, and a Funkmaster Flex custom car and bike show. Aamp of America
sponsored a Phoenix Gold guitar giveaway with rock band Stria performing on
Sunday, and Audiobahn sponsored a Papa John’s Pizza eating content and two
bikini contests.
Scosche Industries took
the Best Booth Award for “being the exhibitor with the best pre-event
communication, best organization, and most professional looking [and] well
staffed, with good attention to spectators distributing ample quantities of
handout materials and branded premiums, right down to the padded carpet,” IASCA
said.
The Epsilon Group
(Soundstream, PPI, Fahrenheit and Power Acoustik) received the Bruce Terrell
Award for the third consecutive year. The Bruce Terrell Award is given to the
exhibitor said to be the most supportive of its community of dealers,
distributors, rep firms and soundoff competition team.
Next year’s Spring Break
Nationals will be held March 16-19, 2012.
