New Acer Aspire Desktops Ship

San Jose, Calif. — Acer America today launched a revamped Aspire desktop line that incorporates a new industrial design.

The new look features a brushed-metal chassis and an overall sleeker look, Acer said.

All the PCs are available immediately.

The flagship Aspire M5800 series has the new finish with matching keyboard, mouse and speakers, all with

chrome and dark gray accents. The base model features an Intel 2.66MHz Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor, with 6MB of L2 cache and a 1.333MHz front side bus.

It comes with 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM memory, Nvidia GeForce GT230 graphics with 1.5GB of discrete video memory, a 750GB hard drive, super multi-layer DVD burner, eight USB ports and an HDMI port. Suggested retail is $799.

The other new Aspire is the M3800; suggested retail is $449. It has an Intel 2.5Ghz Pentium E5200 processor, with 2MB of L2 cache and an 800MHz front side bus. Also included is 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM, Intel X4500 graphics, 640GB hard drive, eight USB ports and the super multi double-layer DVD burner.

Acer also unveiled a new small form-factor desktop, the Aspire X3810. It has a 20-inch widescreen LCD, the same features as the M3800, but drops the hard drive down to 320GB. It does come with nine USB ports. Suggested retail is $529.

The company also introduced a new display, the H235H. The unit has a 23-inch widescreen display, 1,920 by 1,080 resolution, VGA, DVI, HDCP and HDMI inputs, 2ms screen response time and a 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio. It will ship in July with a $239 suggested retail.
