Los Gatos, Calif. –
has begun offering a streaming-video
app for iPhones and iPod Touches running iOS version 3.13 or later. The
introduction follows the launch earlier this year of a Netflix app for the
iPad.
The new app, Netflix’s first for
a cellphone, enables Netflix members with subscription plans starting at $8.99
a month to stream TV episodes and movies to their iPhone or iPod Touch via
Wi-Fi or 3G cellular. The app is free.
NetFlix’s streaming service is
also available on the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation3 and Nintendo Wii
game consoles; Blu-ray Disc players from Samsung, LG and Insignia; Internet TVs
from LG, Sony and Vizio; Roku’s digital video player; and TiVo DVRs.
For $8.99 a month, Netflix
members can watch unlimited TV episodes and movies streamed to their TVs and
computers and unlimited DVDs delivered to their homes.
