Nebraska Furniture Mart K.C. Store To Open On Aug. 15

Kansas City, Kan. – Nebraska Furniture Mart is opening its long-awaited second location, here, on Aug. 15.

The official grand opening and ribbon cutting of the 712,000 square foot store begins on the evening of August 14, with a vendor appreciation event and a charity gala with special guest Warren Buffett, who bought 90 percent of his hometown business back in 1983.

The new store is located at 1601 Village West Parkway, next to Kansas Speedway at the intersection of I-70 and I-435, here. The company said in a prepared statement that the Kansas City location will feature ‘a state of the art presentation of furniture, flooring, appliances and electronics in the store. Each department has a huge selection and features the basics to the best.’

Since 1937 when Nebraska Furniture Mart’s legendary founder, Rose Blumkin, opened the first store there has only been one location, in Omaha, Nebraska. The current 430,000 square foot location offers furniture, flooring, electronics and appliances. This year the Nebraska Furniture Mart campus there features a new warehouse and distribution center, and a totally updated Mrs. B’s Clearance Center.

According to the TWICE Top 100 CE Retailers ranking, Nebraska Furniture Mart had annual CE sales of $128 million during 2002.
