7/30/2013 11:17:00 AM Eastern

Miami Beach, Fla. — Muzik said it is readying a pair of headphones that will enables users to share music directly from the headphones.

The company also said it plans to unveil a full line of smart audio products, but further details weren’t available. The headphones and audio products are said to be part of the company’s “Social Smartware” intentions, which it described as “the seamless connection of consumer electronic devices, content and social media platforms to make music instantly discoverable and shareable in an effortless way.”

The headphones will feature 40mm drivers, a 15-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery and capacitive touch gesture controls. Consumers will be able to share they are listening to on Facebook and Twitter and save songs to their Spotify lists. Muzik is creating a platform for app developers, and members will be able to send songs to their followers.

The company is calling on developers to help create apps “that enable custom gestures, new audio controls, social network integration, and more.”

A spokeswoman wouldn’t reveal how the headphones share music, only that the specific hardware and software details were proprietary.

John Cawley, formerly COO of Music World Entertainment, is helping develop the headphones as the company’s chief strategy officer and vice chairman. Muzik was founded by Jason Hardi.

The headphones will be available in the fourth quarter for a $299 suggested retail.
