Motorola Announces Dealers for Ojo Videophone

Horsham, Pa. — Motorola announced today that Apt Electronics, Bob and Ron’s Worldwide Stereo, the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog and several other retail locations have agreed to sell the company’s Ojo personal videophone.

Motorola also secured deals with the Washington-based MyerEmco Audio Video and New York-based RCS Experience to offer the IP-based videophone later this month.

The Ojo, which was co-developed by Worldgate Communications and officially announced at International CES in January, will retail for a suggested $799.99. It requires a $14.99 monthly subscription and an existing subscription to a broadband VoIP phone service.

The videophone offers 30 frames per second motion, an integrated cordless handset to make voice-only calls using either a PSTN line or VoIP network, and a duplex speakerphone.
