More CE Involvement Seen For TECHXNY

New York — TECHXNY will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, here, October 5 – 7, 2004, and will try to attract more consumer electronics retailers and home networking installers.

The event, formerly known as PC Expo, which used to be held at the same location during June, is trying to attract consumer electronics suppliers and retailers, as well as installers, but as Christine Condos, TECHXNY’s show director, "We are not tying to become an East coast CES."

She noted that the show will continue to be a "B to B play, with many IT and multimedia executives." The difference is that many of those executives are "early adopters for A/V products, wireless items and the like."

In addition, home networking and various other CE products are "finding their way into the B to B space," Condos said, which is why these products will be on display during TECHXNY.

The event, which will take place during New York’s Technology Week, hopes to attract 25,000 attendees this year, up 5,000 from last year. Several other co-located events that week include CETEX (Consumer Electronics Trade Expo); RFID World; Tom’s Hardware Expo; Wirelesss Workforce; OutsourceWorld; and BPO Connections.

Among the technologies that will be covered during the event are: security, storage networking, telecommunications, computers, database management, document management and Internet/Intranet issues.

The show, which is produced by CMP and will have a "Best of Show" awards program, has various events and seminars sponsored by TWICE, Parks Associates, Business Week, Digital Connect and Forbes. For more information on TECHXNY, visit www.techxny.com.
