Modia Opens 8th Showroom

Plano, Texas — Modia, the premium A/V and home furnishings chain, has opened a new showroom here in North Dallas.
The store is located in Plano’s upscale Shops at Legacy shopping center, where its neighbors include such

luxury tenants as Williams Sonoma, Patek Phillipe, and Rolex Jewelers. “We’re excited about the new location in Plano,” said Modia CEO Mihir Mody. “With the demise of long time consumer electronics retailers such as Circuit City, Tweeter and others, we feel that the current marketplace opens up an opportunity for Modia to expand into areas where we didn’t have as visible of a presence as we now are proud to have.”

Founded as Home Theater Store in 1986, the family-run chain was renamed Modia in 2007 to better reflect the company’s business model, which includes proprietary furniture and home fashions. Indeed, Modia, which means “adding emotion to media,”  culls its non-CE assortment and services from sister companies GEL, a low-voltage blueprint provider, and Mody & Mody, an exclusive showroom of premium home furnishings brands like B & B Italia, Maxalto, Boffi, Agape and Ingo Maurer.

Mody said he is “very enthusiastic” about the potential of the chain’s newest locale, which he described as “an upscale high-footprint retail location.”

The PRO Group member currently operates seven other Modia showrooms in Houston, Dallas and Austin, as well as a clearance center near corporate headquarters in Houston. Modia recently closed a showroom in Phoenix, Ariz., but still maintains a presence in that market.
