Mobile DTV Pavilion Slated For NAB Show

4/08/2011 01:26:41 PM Eastern

Las Vegas - The Advanced
Television System Committee (ATSC)
and the Open
Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC)
will co-host a Mobile DTV Pavilion at next
week's National Association of Broadcasters Convention, here, to showcase a
wide range of products and services slated to be part of the system's continued
rollout this year.

This year's gathering will include presentations by both of the
mobile DTV broadcaster consortia -- the Mobile500 Alliance and Mobile Content
Venture.

Other presenters will include the Mobile500 Alliance, Hauppauge
Computer Works, DTVinteractive, Pixtree, Triveni Digital, Crest Technology,
Decontis and Axel Technology.

According to the OMVC, the Mobile DTV service is on track to reaching
two-thirds of the nation's 115 million households in the next year.

Currently, 76 Mobile DTV stations are now on the air in 32
markets, the OMVC said, with more joining continuously through the year. A list
of available stations can be found at OMVC.org.

Among some of the Mobile DTV devices planned for demonstration at
the show is the Valups Tivizen receiver that plugs into an iPad and iPhone.

Cydle will show an iPhone cradle for MDTV reception, and portable
Wi-Fi devices from Crestech will be on display.

RCA will demonstrate a new line of portable TV sets, and Winegard
will show new vehicle antenna solutions designed for the system.

Other products slated include prototype cellphones from LG
Electronics and Samsung, a prototype netbook computer with built-in Mobile DTV
from Dell, and several USB receivers for laptops from DTVinteractive, Hauppauge
and Pixtree.

LG will also present several new adaptations to the Mobile DTV
platform, including Tweet.TV -- a system for sending and receiving tweets from
the popular social network for display along with and on top of Mobile DTV
video, electronic coupons, and glasses-free 3DTV delivered to auto-stereoscopic
personal video screens.
