Mitsubishi Unveils Mini DLP Model

Irvine, Calif. — Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s presentation products division introduced a tiny DLP front projector called the MiniMits XD80U.

The projector, which is being positioned for home and portable business applications, is smaller than a laptop computer, measuring 1.8 inches high by 7.3 inches wide by 6.9 inches long, and weighs fewer than three pounds.

Resolution is listed as XGA (1,024 by 768 pixels), and brightness is listed at 1,500 ANSI lumens.

The unit offers a Dual Color mode for adaptability between business and home environments. In Dynamic mode, users can select color levels needed to maximize their color presentations and imaging content; Vivid mode allows them to switch from a four-segment (RGBW) to a six-segment color wheel (RGBRGB), which amplifies colors to create rich video images, Mitsubishi said.

Mitsubishi is selling the XD80U now at a $1,995 suggested retail price. The unit comes with a three-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a 90-day limited warranty on the lamp.
