Irvine, Calif. — Mitsubishi’s presentation products division said Monday it will ship in the third quarter a portable projector that weigh less than 8 pounds and offers more than 4,000 lumens of brightness output.
Model XD600U, being presented at InfoComm 2009 in Orlando, Fla., is called the first in a new series of projectors. It offers XGA resolution, 4,500 lumens of brightness and 2,000:1 contrast ratio. Pricing will be announced later.
It incorporates a DDP2230 DLP chipset, which will support some forms of 3-D video content, using optional DLP Link-compatible 3-D glasses.
Mitsubishi said the projector is targeted at the education and business markets. It includes a 10-watt speaker and audio mix capability, closed-captioning decoder and a visual public addressing (PA) feature.
An RJ-45 port is included for remote operation and management over a LAN, WAN or the Internet.
The Visual PA feature allows an administrator to remotely create and distribute messages in real time to projectors connected to the LAN.
Security is addressed with a password menu and display locks, and an anti-theft hook design that can lock the projector in place to help deter theft.
Inputs include HDMI and an RS232 port for third-party control devices.
